Sundaram Vasudevan_HRLP005_Self Leadership_Sep’11

Change alone is eternal, perpetual, immortal.

The day started with power yoga session conducted by Mrs.Susie. She reiterated, breathing relieves our stress.

Snehal Ma'm and Susie Ma'm were explaining about STRESS. Snehal Ma'm explained about types of stress and factors affecting us which causes stress. She showed us some tools to identify our stress points.

Later that session Susie Ma'm taught us laughter yoga. This session went on for 30 min. This laughter yoga helped us from coming out of stress.

We had a session with Mr.Anil Sachdev sir regarding self leadership in the second half of the day.

We were discussing regarding the feedback from Mr.Rajiv Gupta who is teaching us Operations Management. Anil sir was explaining us how important is ethics.

There was a big question in front of us.

I can change. Do I want to change?

Then We all decided we should undergo a change. What really is a change?

Intellect should collect the feedback and responses from others and you should realize about change.

Heart should think how much you are wishing to change. This completely depends on the mindset of the person.

Body should collect the responses from the heart and should start practicing the changes decided. This completes the real change.

Then Anil sir was talking about his habit of smoking. how he was unable to change for a long time. He said quitting smoking became a habit. He realized that he should quit smoking. But his heart failed to wish for a change. At one time, he was so strong to quit smoking and his heart wished. He did quit smoking.

Immunity to change :

Anil sir talked about hidden competing commitments. He gave an example about trying to maintain a balance between studies and personal life. He wanted to study but his mind was into personal life. That is what is hidden competing commitments. That stopped him from performing good.

He asked us few questions.

  • What change we want in ourselves?
  • How to bring the change?
  • Find the hidden competing commitments?

Immunity to change can be defined as the hidden commitment that is the root cause which competes and conflicts the commitment to change

Anil sir talked about immunity to change map.

Level 1: First the person should identify what he wants to achieve. What his commitments are and whats the purpose

Level 2: Second is to identify the hurdles which are stopping him from achieving his goals and fulfilling his commitments.

Level 3: Third is to understand the reasons for this hurdles and start challenging them

Level 4: Fourth is to eliminate the assumptions which he made that stopped him from changing.

So I should change... Change is always good.

I would like to end this with an evergreen quote from the father of our nation - Gandhi
