The Self before Leadership

The day started with a lot of thoughts in the mind and a lot of desire to learn something different apart from the regular studies.  Anil Sir, have always been different and the way he carried the class was just commendable. There was a positive aura that was created in the class and was a absoulutely different learning experience.

Session 1: Self of Self Leadership
Leadership starts from ground Zero i.e. SELF and thus the day started off discussing about capital ‘S’ & small ‘s’ of Self leadership. The letter ‘S’ represents Self. We discussed about how the negativities in us are attached to the small ‘s’ and all the positives are attached to the capital ‘S’. It is our thoughts and actions related with our thoughts that make us the ‘S’ we are and the ‘S’ we want to be.

Session 2: Understanding the Source
This S is also the source, the source that describes the true person inside, the true person which is surrounded by artificial conditions that the mind gives it and stops it from doing the right thing at the right time. The source is the one which lets us understand our purpose and builds the character and right attitude to achieve that purpose.
The most wonderful thing about all this was that we know what we are and still we let the wrong part in us rule over us. The actions that we think are small are actually the one’s taking us away from the source and the right attitude and character. As rightly said by Anil sir Great Ideas come out of great character and not great knowledge’.  We should understand the importance of Self.

Session 3: The Habit Effect
Now came one of the most exciting part of the class which I am sure everyone in the class was able to relate to. I call it “The HABIT effect”.
H: Hard to leave as the intellect stops you.
A: Add as the heart wants you to.
B: Body and But which keeps on reminding you and creating the urge in you.
I: IGO:::EGO : The final and the most hard step.
T: Finally the transformation which has so many predecessors.

All this can be achieved through unconditional love for a purpose which over powers the ego in us which is stopping us all the time. Unconditional love can take us to final T which is the transformation.

Session 4: Immunity to Change
The final session was one of the most inspiring factors for me, not because it was brilliantly explained by Anil Sir, but for the amount of confidence Anil Sir has with himself and us. He believed in himself and his thought. He taught us the Immunity X-ray which the industry people do not recommend at MBA level, but I just love this habit of his of taking up challenges and proving people wrong. He believes in himself and more importantly imbibes this quality in others as well. This gave me a boost factor in learning and believing in myself and my abilities and courage to do things differently.

Immunity X-ray is a device which requires really deep introspection and really deep understanding of oneself. It makes you understand the weak links in you and understand what could be done to overcome it. It asks questions like

What I do wrong?
What I do instead?
What are the hidden competing commitments?
Assumptions that our brain gives us while taking a decision?
How can we make a change to take these assumptions?

These may look like mere questions but when we start connecting the dots while introspecting we would find the real answer and overcome the weakness

The day actually left us with a lot of things to think about ourselves and made us understand that Leadership starts with Self First. The engine for the journey has started and I look forward for the journey ahead.
