Jeewan Das Mohta_BLP016_Self Leadership_Sep'11

What a day it was....the class starts with a difference between the Big 'S and the small ’s 'of Self- leadership. The sensitizing of the self and the importance of a good attitude was focused. It is the self that explain you and projects your image to outside world. The reflection of yours in the image of the other's mirror and it’s totally dependent on you and you that how you portrait your  'Self '.

I also learn what makes human factors make a best[better than good] place to work for. It is team-work and pride of it, faith among selves in the team-trust, habit of learning, the right attitude of help and enjoy of being connected. These sounds simple, but are hard to practise and when practiced can bring wonders at a work place.

It’s very important to know the purpose of your life and the channelize your energy to achieve that purpose. Sir discuss about the framework to arrive at the cause of the purpose . He listed out 3 points to dig the cause as
  • Who are the people that your life that matters to you.
  • What are their needs that, you are moved to serve
  • How I can leverage my values plus gifts to serve those needs.

In-order to realize the purpose one must have to shed the black Prada of 3 letter word: :ego.  The EGO is the blockage in one understands the purpose of its life and the self- realization of him/her.  One of the biggest learning from the sir class was to how to overcome the ill of ego and it can be done only and only by practising unconditional love. Ego lies between us and greatness and it brings fear. One of the interesting insights of the class was the insight of ‘fire-walk’.  As sir explained one has to under-go a full day workshop to prepare to walk through fire of 1100 centigrade and once it’s done successfully, you realized the success of overcoming fear which is quite difficult to penned down in words.

Biggest leadership competency is of ‘learn how to learn’. One of the biggest ways to learn is to connect with the task fully. The best leader is the best follower and the most profound knowledge is self-knowledge.
One another amazing tool of self-introspection was also taught to us and that is called “the Immunity X-ray”. As it sounds biological.it actually x-rayed the inner of yourself and ponder upon various deep insights which have not been analysed, but has]d a deep impact and is a major part of YOU. The tools asks you the following questions as follows to think and analyse yourself
  • One aspect that you need to change
  • What do actually I do?
  • Hidden competing commitment
  • You’re Assumptions
  • How do I get rid of those assumptions?

After been through the exercise and it help me to identify weakness of mine and how I need to work on it and what were the assumptions that hindered me to work upon it .
In the end I would like to mention the mantra from the session is
“ The genie is us is genius”
