The first half of the day was conducted by Ms. Susie and Ms. Snehal Shah, we were made aware about the various stresses and how yoga can overcome your stresses. In the first session Snehal Ma’m with the help of various instruments and exercises helped us to identify our areas of stresses and later in the session Susie Ma’m with the help of laughter yoga provided tips to overcome stress.
The second half of the day, we had a session on self-Leadership by Anil Sir which was very inspiring and fruitful; the emphasis was on Managing Change within.
But the question is: DO I WANT TO CHANGE?
Yes, I want to change, then let us deep-dive and understand how change takes place.
Categorization of change follows:
Need to change: Post feedback from the external environment mainly from peers and friends, realizing that there is a need for change.
Want to change: After realizing, whether there is willingness to change. Here an individual takes a responsibility to change.
Actual change: Practice and getting comfortable with the change, bringing it into practice. Be it in behavior or habits.
Following questions when are asked from self would facilitate the process of change.
One thing that I wish to change, develop in myself
I react to most of the situations, I wish change it with responsibility i.e. having an ability to choose an appropriate response.
What do I do instead / or not do?
Relax take a time to tender your response, do your alternate response. Choose best amongst the same, evaluate and respond.
Hidden competing commitments?
Comfortable with the old habit, reacting immediately does not involve much of thing and the onus is passed onto another individual.
Reasons? Assumptions.
My assumption is my earlier successes are the results of this behavior.
Excerpts from Article Immunity to change: By Jonathan Reams
Sequential process of 4 stages to attain a level of excellence:
- Level 1 stage (identification): A stage where an individual identifies what he wants to achieve in life keeping the focus on a purpose.
- Level 2 stage (deterrents): A stage of the immunity map when an individual recognizes the deterrents which are preventing him/her from achieving your goals.
- Level 3 stage (Rationale): A stage where one challenges the status quo and identifies why he is not being able to change.
- Level 4 stage (Assumptions): A final stage which talks of the assumptions and reasons of not implementing change.
“It is neither the strongest, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” Charles Darwin
