Immunity to change - Bring the Difference

“The first and the best victory is to conquer yourself”
-          Plato
Greek Philosopher

It might seem to be easy and simple but more in- depth you go to unlearn and then learn about self leadership, more you realise the various realms of it.

Self Leadership is wider perspective of what we were taught about immunity to change.

Main Idea: To know oneself better and therefore steer oneself to a better life.
The idea is not bring a change in one self rather to realise the need for change.
A beautiful line written in Immunity to change “ Thinking about our feelings and feeling our way into thinking” states that it has be the combination of thinking and feeling which will help in unlocking the immunity to change.
The layers of change can be categorised as
1.    Need to change: Realise the need of the hour by ensuring that there is a grey area which needs to be rectified.
2.    Want to change: Need is different from want. A person might not have need to have change but wishes to create some difference by making some changes.
3.    Actual change: The real difference made.

The serial questionnaire strategy is followed where the objective is to make the distinction between the leadership development and leadership learning or training.

The difference of opinion comes when the definition of capacity is understood as a fixed resource and not otherwise that is growth of capacity of organization. The fifth order of mind which is self transforming is tickled to understand the gap between the mental demands today and the capacity generally available.

The three dimension of immunity to change are:
1.    Change Prevention systems
2.    Feeling systems
3.    Knowing systems

Also, one should not limit his thinking based on the prejudice. Change is the only constant thing in universe. The essence however states that not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced.

The goal and purpose in life is pivotal to assimilate the effectiveness of welcoming change in life so as to better identify and develop oneself. Goal envisages your mission and purpose puts you a question of “WHY”. This question needs to be addressed diligently as one might achieve the objective but needs to validate whether the process followed is learning in itself or not.

Values: Value your values. What one value which you will never compromise? This questions one’s integrity and beliefs but not on the score of doubting it rather solidifying the firmness about the values inherited or followed.

Talent: this quite an interesting word. First of all how one does categorises talent as? Different answers to this as an inherent, build and nurtured (synonym). Each one has been gifted with one or the other talent which we all need to nourish and use it as our strengths. The difference or to some extreme say uniqueness is the way one builds its talent into its one of the strengths.

Rightly said by Lao Tzu Mastering others is strength, Mastering yourself is true power."
The path of bringing difference in oneself might appear to be tricky or to some frightening. The only thing which can help in obscuring these feelings will be possible with one great step forward to just realise the potential in you.

Amazing lines from movie Pursuit of happiness
“You got a dream, you have to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you that you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it.”
This go get it attitude needs to be worked on and build so that you come out as winner as an individual with firm beliefs and strengths.

Would like to conclude with one of my favourite lines
Your “life” should not “command” rather “command” your “life”.
